Lost Dogs Photographic Exhibition - Opening Night
30.07.2009
Lost Dogs is a photographic documentary project exploring the plight of the dogs at The Lost Dogs’ Home in North Melbourne, Victoria, the largest shelter in Australia, rescuing over 11,000 dogs every year. The series illustrates individual stories from among the large number of dogs that come into this shelter and focuses on the process that these dogs go through during their stay at The Lost Dogs’ Home.
“The Lost Dogs project materialised after my partner and I adopted Zala, a Labrador cross, from The Lost Dogs’ Home a few years ago. My personal experience with the shelter opened my eyes to the careless way animals are discarded in our society. It highlighted the important role that animal shelters play in our communities.” — Penny Koukoulas
